World Cancer Care Camps in Punjab

Five World Cancer Care Camps in Punjab Sponsored by The Virdee Foundation

In November and December 2021, the World Cancer Care Camps were set up in three initial locations: Bathinda, Chamkaur Sahib and Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab, India. All three camps are sponsored by The Virdee Foundation, founded by Prof. Peter Virdee and the Chamkaur Sahib site was inaugurated by the honourable Chief Minister of Punjab.

Across three locations, nearly 1% of their total population has been successfully examined so far using different methods. World Cancer Care Camps' qualified team of doctors and nurses have used many advanced methods for testing patients such as Mammography, PAP Smear, Prostate Specific Antigen Tests, Oral examination, bone mineral density, ECG, BP and Sugar level tests.

The World Cancer Care Camps aim to open a further two sites and more information will be shared on this soon. This is a project that will continue to be supported by The Virdee Foundation and Prof. Peter Virdee.

Oxygen For Punjab Appeal

The Virdee Foundation & Central Gurdwara Khalsa Jatha came together in May 2021 to distribute 500 clinical grade 10L Oxygen Concentrators all across Punjab for the makeshift hospitals treating Covid-19 patients.

The team worked closely alongside the Ministry Of Health to identify the most severely impacted districts across the region and find the most efficient way of transporting the machines to where they were needed the most.

Of the 500 units, 200 were pledged by The Virdee Foundation, and the remaining machines were bought with generous donations from public donations

Professor Peter Virdee, on behalf of The Virdee Foundation was grateful to hold a private dinner on 17th September 2019 at Hankies, at the Montcalm Hotel Marble Arch, to honour and host Mr Charanjit Singh Channi, Honourable Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab.

Professor Peter Virdee and The Virdee Foundation would like to thank all of our guests who were able to attend the dinner, in order to make it such a pleasurable event.

The Virdee School - Work Begins

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with the charity Children in Crisis, in which we are funding the construction of a new school in Bibangwa, DR Congo.

Located a three hours’ walk from the nearest road, on the High Plateau of eastern DR Congo, Bibangwa’s children are at the extremes of isolation. They’re receiving no help or investment from the government or other organisations. The current wattle and daub school, built by a resourceful community who are desperate for their children to learn, has unfortunately been ruined by the Plateau’s torrential rains. Thanks to the Virdee Foundation’s support, Children in Crisis can now work with Bibangwa’s parents to construct a new, durable, six-classroom school for their children. The Virdee school will be community-owned and community-run. It will be a safe and dry place in which future generations of children can grasp their chance to learn.

Fly a Flag for The Commonwealth

The Virdee Foundation is actively involved in the Organisation and Co-ordination of “Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth: A Project of The Virdee Foundation”. A Fly a Flag Tribute will take place on Commonwealth day, every year, to celebrate this prominent family of Nations through the flying of Hundreds of Commonwealth Flags across the UK and beyond.
